Clinton — Elmer Edgar Humphrey, 84, of Clinton, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010, in Union Hospital Clinton. He was born July 19, 1925, in Beaver, Okla., the son of William Elmer Humphrey and Beatrice Swaim Humphrey. He owned and operated Humphrey’s Garage on Western Avenue in Clinton, from 1945 to 1990.

Survivors include his wife, Lenora “Lee” Humphrey; a daughter, Linda Reynolds of Clinton; a son, Tim Humphrey and wife Jennifer of Terre Haute; grandchildren, A.J. Reynolds, Jacob, Jeremy, Jordan and Joshua. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Leatha Humphrey Adams and her husband Chester Adams.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6653, Rio Grande Full Gospel Church, Full Gospel Businessmen’s Club, Terre Haute Chapter, Order of Eastern Star Jerusalem Chapter 254, serving as worthy patron, and Jerusalem Lodge 99 Free & Accepted Masons.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010, at Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman St., with Pastor Sam Ball officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, with full military rites. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
